ENEMIES OF CHRISTIAN PILGRIMS

*DATE: MONDAY 25TH MAY, 2020.* *THEME: ENEMIES OF CHRISTIAN PILGRIMS.* *MEMORISE:*  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth easily beset us, and let us run with patient the race that is set before us. Hebrews 12:1 READ: 1st John 3:4-10 (KJV) 4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. 6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. 7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.   9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cann...

EXILED, BUT NOT IN BONDAGE

THE LIVING WATER {Jan ~ June, 2020} Monday, May 25, 2020 - African Liberation Day TOPIC: EXILED, BUT NOT IN BONDAGE Read Job 32:1-5 MEMORISE: Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him (Job 13:15) EXPOSITION Many believers who go the wrong way today, have attributed their waywardness and inconsistencies to the environment they found themselves. While this may be a factor to misbehave, we have an inbuilt (God-deposited) capacity to resist all efforts to yield to temptations. The three Hebrew friends were part of the exiles taken from Jerusalem to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar. Though they found themselves in a strange land with strange gods and ways of life, they refused to behave strangely, from the point of view of God's Word (instructions) that they had obviously learnt from childhood. They refused to jettison the ancient landmark set by their parents, back at home. They were not in bondage under the guise of any vain religion, and so refus...

VICTORY IS SURE

MONDAY, MAY 25, 2020 TOPIC: VICTORY IS SURE  TEXT: Nehemiah 2:9-11 KEY VERSE: “When Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly that there was come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.” -(Nehemiah 2:10) Selwyn Hughes rightly observed, “one thing becomes apparent from the study of Christian history that whenever anyone says, ‘let us arise and build’ Satan and his forces will respond, ‘let us arise and stop him.’” He further posited that no battle can commence anywhere in the spiritual sense until someone decides to stand up and challenge existing evil norms. Today’s passage reveals that when Nehemiah arrived Judah to rebuild the broken walls of Jerusalem, opposition greeted him. Sanballat, governor of Samaria, and Tobiah, his associate, were men of influence and power who opposed and tried to outwit Nehemiah in everything that he did. They knew perfectly what the restoration of the holy city meant. Eventually...

IS IN YOU

DATE: MONDAY, 25TH MAY, 2020 TOPIC: IS IN YOU ANCHOR SCRIPTURES: Jeremiah 1:4-5   Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Judges 11:1 Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valour, and he was the son of an harlot: and Gilead begat Jephthah. Judges 11:2 And Gilead's wife bare him sons; and his wife's sons grew up, and they thrust out Jephthah, and said unto him, Thou shalt not inherit in our father's house; for thou art the son of a strange woman. Judges 11:6 And they said unto Jephthah, Come, and be our captain, that we may fight with the children of Ammon. Ephesians 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: God's grace and power is in you, you are created to show forth His praise ...

7 Ways to Deal with a Mountain

Topic: 7 Ways To Deal With A Mountain  Text: Exodus 14:13-18 Ministering: Pastor E.A. Adeboye  A mountain is an obstacle blocking your way; an unexpected problem or unfamiliar crisis. Ways to Deal with a Mountain: 1. Turn back. Numbers 14:1-4. The Israelites wanted to appoint a captain so they could go back to Egypt. 2. To go round it; to look for a way around it. The problem with going round a mountain is that you don't know how far it stretches. Numbers 32:13.  3. Climbing the mountain. Exodus 17:8-13. 4. Bore a hole/tunnel through the mountain. Exodus 14:21-28. The Red Sea parted and the children of Israel passed through. 5. Dynamite the mountain. Get some huge explosives and blow the mountain. Joshua 6:1-20. 6. You can turn the mountain to a habitation; you can sit on the mountain or build a house on it. 2 Kings 4:18-37 7. Fly over the mountain. Isaiah 40:31. This is the greatest option of all. The mountain will be there but you'll be flying above it. There are certai...

ABSOLUTE FUTILITY

DATE: SUNDAY, 24TH MAY, 2020 TOPIC:  ABSOLUTE FUTILITY ANCHOR SCRIPTURES: Ecclesiastes 1:4  One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever. Ecclesiastes 1:8-10, 13-14  All things are full of labour; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing. The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us. And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith. I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit. Ecclesiastes 2:1  I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove thee with mirth, therefore enjoy...

GOD SHIELD -- NULL SATAN'S DART

DATE: MAY 24TH, 2020 BIBLE TEXT: The Book of Job & Hebrews 5:8 TOPIC: GOD SHIELD -- NULL SATAN'S DART             Job 5:19-23 INTRODUCTION: "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof:...." 1John2:15-17 "For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High." Isaiah 14:13-14 BODY: "...: for we are not ignorant of his devices." 2Corinthians 2:11b "Neither give place to the devil." Ephesians 4:27 "Lest Satan should get an advantage of us:..." 2Corinthians...

THE DAY OF THE LORD

THE LIVING WATER {Jan ~ June, 2020} Sunday, May 24, 2020 TOPIC: THE DAY OF THE LORD Read Zechariah 14:1-9 MEMORISE: The great day of the Lord is near; it is near and hastens quickly. The noise of the day of the Lord is bitter; there the mighty men shall cry out (Zephaniah 1:14) EXPOSITION The wedding is a special day for both the bride and groom. The bride especially idolises this day! She calls it "her day". She wants to have 'her way' through-out the day! Even when she is going into excesses, she still believes the day is given to her to do all that please her! Although God has graciously given to all and sundry, many days, which are meant for everyone to repent and do His will (Psa. 90:12). He has however reserved a day, which is Day of days for Himself alone! (2 Pet. 3:10). On the Lord's Day, it is no longer "my wedding day", "my birthday", "my anniversary day", "my town's day",... etc. It is exclusively the Lord...

BE A PATRIOT

*SUNDAY, MAY 24 2020* _It is advisable that you prayerfully and meditatively read the text first_ Topic *BE A PATRIOT!*  *TEXT:* NEHEMIAH 1:1-11. _*🔑KEY VERSE* "And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven" (NEHEMIAH 1:4)._ The history of the children of Israel is one that has continued to provide instructive principles for believers today. Jerusalem occupies the central place in their entire history. The city symbolises divine relationship, sanctuary, royalty, national identity, heritage, and everything that has to do with their entire life as a people and nation. In our passage today, Nehemiah shows us the unique place Jerusalem occupies in the heart of every Jew. He must have remembered the words of Jeremiah: "Ye that have escaped the sword, go away, stand not still... and let Jerusalem come into your mind" (Jeremiah 51:50). Although he was in a comfortable posi...

YOUR FATHER'S BLESSINGS

*DATE: SUNDAY 24TH MAY, 2020.* *THEME: YOUR FATHER'S BLESSINGS.*  *MEMORIZE:*  *...Where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed...* Genesis 27:33 BIBLE READING: GENESIS 27:27-40 27. And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the Lord hath blessed: 28. Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine: 29. Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother’s sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee. 30. And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting. 31. THIRD QUARTER REVIEW

RCCG SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER'S MANUAL LESSON THIRTY-NINE (39) SUNDAY 24TH OF MAY, 2020 TOPIC: THIRD QUARTER REVIEW SUMMARY OF LESSONS 27 - 38 LESSON TWENTY-SEVEN (27) *TOPIC: OVERCOMING BARRENNESS* *BIBLE PASSAGE: Deuteronomy 7:11-14* *MEMORY VERSE*: "Thou shall be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle." Deuteronomy 7:14 *INTRODUCTION*: God wants us to experience fruitfulness in every area of our lives - spiritually, physically, mentally, financially, relationally, etc. To be fruitful, we need to deal with barrenness. Barrenness means being unfruitful, unproductive, unprofitable, sterile, infertile, etc. It is the opposite or absence of fruitfulness. When you are in a state of barrenness, you have certain feelings such as shame, disgrace, forsaken, deserted or grieved in spirit ( Isaiah 54:4,6). God has good plans for us, if we will be opened to Him. It is to take us from barrenness to fruitfulness (Jeremiah 29:11...

A HYPOCRITE?

MONDAY MAY 18, 2020 A HYPOCRITE? TEXT: EZEKIEL 33:21-33 KEY VERSE: "And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness" (EZEKIEL 33:31). At the outset of his reign, Adolf Hitler was known for his profuse use of Christian vocabulary. He was said to be in the habit of brandishing his tattered Bible and declaring to the people that he drew inspiration and strength from it for the great work he had in hand. He gave out himself as a man zealous of good works, and by this, captured the attention of pious people as a God-ordained leader. But history later revealed his true self. There has never been a short supply of people who draw near to God with their mouths, but their hearts are far from Him (Matthew 15:8). The Jews in Babylonian captivity typified this attitude. They displayed much of outward religion but...

RIGHT CHOICE IN MARRIAGE

THE LIVING WATER {Jan ~ June, 2020} Monday, May 18, 2020 TOPIC: RIGHT CHOICE IN MARRIAGE Read Genesis 27:46 MEMORISE: Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? (2 Corinthians 6:14) EXPOSITION No marriage succeeds by chance; it must be worked out. Marital success hinges on so many factors, ranging from the right foundation to tolerance and good understanding of the spouse, love and forbearance, etc. Finance is another thing that determines the viability of a marriage. The Bible talks of the foundation, how important it is to everything in life (Psa. 11:3). Right choice in marriage is the major foundational issue in marriage.  If you get it wrong from the start, to make it right along the line can be very difficult, if not impossible. No wonder the alarming rate of divorce as we witness it, today. To forestall wrongly choosing his life partner and miss out of the covenant bl...

FRUITFULNESS

DATE: MONDAY, 18TH MAY, 2020 TOPIC:  FRUITFULNESS ANCHOR SCRIPTURES: Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Genesis 17:6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. Genesis 35:11 And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins; Colossians 1:10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 2 Peter 1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Nobody is born barren, God doesn't have bareness but fruitful land, th...

THEY GAVE TO ANYONE AS HE HAD NEED

*On Monday 18th May, 2020* THEY GAVE TO ANYONE AS HE HAD NEED *Anchor Text: Acts 2:45(NIV)* *Message* Their need decided what help was to be given: it was not their position or what they were doing. When the disciples in the Early Church in Jerusalem found anyone needed help they gave it. They had everything in common and sold their possessions and goods to meet this general fund. This was characteristic of the church in its infancy and it has on occasions been repeated when great persecution or distress has fallen on the believers. It should not depent on any other factor. If someone is in need and the believer can meet it they should do so. They broke the bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts. When many are alone today, we might do well to learn from this situation in the Early church. *HYMN* Jesus shall reign where'er the sun Does his successive journeys run; His kingdom stretch from shore to shore, Till moons shall wax and wane no more. *PRAYER POIN...
